PET RESORTS

Marketing for pet resorts

A full resort is four businesses under one roof, and each one has its own demand curve and its own advertising cost. Marketing them as a single brand leaves money on the table.

What the data says

Grooming has more than twice the demand of boarding

"Dog grooming near me" runs 450,000 searches a month against 201,000 for boarding, and the clicks cost a quarter as much. Most resorts advertise boarding and mention grooming as an afterthought, which is backwards.

Training is the most expensive click in the industry

Up to $9.46 top-of-page, and the only pet care category Google rates High competition. Board-and-train sells for thousands, so the bidding is fierce. It can absolutely work, but not on a boarding budget.

Your four services peak in different months

Boarding peaks in June and again in December. Grooming and training both peak in August. Daycare barely moves at all. A single flat budget across all four guarantees you underspend during every peak and overspend during every trough.

Figures from our own research: seasonal demand, ad costs and the 1,446-site website audit.

How we run it

A budget per service line, not per business

Each service gets its own campaign, its own landing page and its own seasonal curve, so grooming money is not being spent during the boarding peak.

Cross-sell as the main growth lever

A daycare client who also grooms is worth several times one who does not, and they are far cheaper to reach than a stranger. Most resorts have never run this properly.

One tracking picture across all four

Without call tracking and per-service conversion tracking, you cannot tell which line is actually paying for itself, and the biggest one usually subsidises a loser.

Capacity-aware spending

There is no point buying boarding clicks in the week you are already full. Spend follows available capacity, not the calendar.

Questions

Should each service have its own campaign?

Yes. They have different demand curves, different click costs and different customers. Running them as one campaign means Google optimises toward whichever converts most easily, usually the cheapest service, and starves the rest.

Which service should I advertise first?

Usually grooming or daycare. Grooming has the most search volume and the cheapest clicks; daycare has the best lifetime value. Boarding is the most expensive to buy and the most seasonal, so it is rarely the right first move.

Do you price multi-location differently?

Yes. Google Ads is a flat $500 a month for one location, and multiple locations are priced custom, because two facilities in one metro compete with each other in search and need handling differently from two in separate states.
